I picked up coloured pencils to help with stress and an unhappy marriage in 2016 - and they literally changed my life!
At 17, back in 1987, after two years of dreaming about becoming an artist and wanting to take a degree in fine art, I was told I was no good at art and to find another career.
At 46, after being gifted a set of coloured pencils and a colouring book, I rediscovered my love of drawing after years of working in corporate.
I know how everything in life changes for the better when you pick up a pencil; drawing healed me, transformed me, restored my confidence and opened up so many possibilities.
Fast forward to today, and I’m teaching thousands of amazing people how to create incredible art with coloured pencils, but not only that, I’m helping them discover for themselves how much drawing can help with every other aspect in their lives.
... and spent most of my school days drawing them on my school books and galloping around the garden on my hands and knees.
... in fact laughter is my number one value.
... and to pay my mortgage off as a single mother.
Turns out I’m neither.
Three of the dogs are enormous, one is tiny - and they all sleep on my bed with me.
... who sits with me and helps me deal with difficult conversations.
... drawing helps me de-stress and allows me to forget everything going on around me.
Because … I know what happens when you draw.
Because I know how everything in your life will change for the better when you pick up a pencil.
Because drawing... Heals. Transforms. Restores confidence. Opens up all possibilities.
Because I was there. I know how scary it is. And I will not stand for one person suffering when I know the way out. I know how hard life can be. I know what happens when you don’t have confidence. I know what it feels like when you feel small - you have no voice, no boundaries.
