The Coloured Pencil Chronicles | Chapter Thirty One | July

The end of the month means it’s time for another exciting round-up! There have been so many exciting things going on behind the scenes at the Bonny Snowdon Academy and I can’t wait to tell you about them! Let's jump in!

One of the most exciting updates is that we've moved into a gorgeous new office in a business park just outside Harrogate. We have two conjoining offices in a beautiful building in just the most lovely area. I still have my studio at home but my team members have moved over there and have been there 3 weeks now, which has just been lovely. It means I have my house back and although it’s worked really well the past few years having everyone working from my home, the business is growing and this is a really good move for us!

Another super exciting update is that my daughter Maisy has joined the business, which has just been so wonderful. She's very proactive and has really hit the ground running in her role which I knew she would. It's so wonderful to have someone at home to talk to about the business as well and for them to actually care! I think my children think I just sit around and watch videos all day! Maisy seemed pretty surprised at how professional everything was when we were taking her through everything.

A highlight of the month was seeing The Lion King at the Royal Albert Hall. We watched the original film accompanied by a live orchestra and gospel choir and it was an absolutely incredible experience! I went with my sister and two sons, we rented an apartment on Kensington High Street for the weekend and had a fantastic time. Plus there were no hiccups with the trains so that’s always a win!

In terms of my drawing, I'm currently working on a big commission that I can't share details about yet, unfortunately, and I’m drawing a fantastic image of a girl with bright blue hair. This is another one that I’ve chosen to do just for me and my goodness I’ve been loving it! 

My upcoming workshop focusing on skin tones sold out in record time! I think it was something like 12 hours which really shocked me because a lot of my students focus mainly on animals, but it’s amazing how much drawing humans can improve your animal drawings by learning new techniques.

Some upcoming projects are a big tutorial for my Ignite members which will contain both a human and a horse, I’m really excited about it, and that will be coming out in the next couple of months. I’m also working on some skin tone tutorials and continuing to develop a course to help people set up their art business, so lots and lots coming up.
