What a month! July has been full of birthday treats, creative bursts and a bit of chaos! Here’s a little peek at this months Coloured Pencil Chronicles…
🎂 Birthday Bits
I turned 55 and was thoroughly spoiled! One of my favourite gifts was a felt-making kit from my son… which I still haven’t made. I’m thinking of regifting it back to him for his birthday – cheeky, I know 😂
🧖♀️ Oxford Retreat & Podcast Chaos
I escaped to Oxford for a few days of bliss! Spa treatments, hot tubs, and laughter. I even attempted a podcast (in my PJs, with two of my amazing friends). It was hilarious, but absolutely not fit for public ears!
✏️ Ignite in Focus Week
Inside Ignite, we had a full week of daily live coloured pencil drawing sessions focused on humans – eyes, lips, noses, hands, and hair (some with just one pencil!). Even those who weren’t keen on drawing people gave it a go and the results were incredible.
🎨 Art Club Creativity
We wrapped up a gorgeous pastelmat piece in Art Club that focused on values and looseness rather than perfection. It’s been lovely encouraging people to let go a little and realise realism doesn’t have to mean super-detailed.
🐴 New Drawings & Commissions
I finished two coloured pencil commissions this month, one on Rising Museum Board (a bit of an experiment, but I loved it!). I’ve also started a new colourful piece just for me, always a treat.
🎬 Filming, Freebies & Fluffy Cats
I took a spontaneous trip to Essex to film something exciting with a lovely Ignite member and I’ve been working on a brand-new freebie I can’t wait to share. Oh, and yes, the blurry cat makes a cameo in the video 🤭
