My own creative comeback began with a simple colouring book and a cheap tin of pencils.

The Moment Everything Shifted

When I was seventeen, I was told I wasn’t “good enough” to be an artist and for thirty years, I believed it. I built a corporate career, raised my family, kept everything ticking along. From the outside, life looked fine. Inside, I was exhausted.

Then one Christmas, my daughter handed me a colouring book and twelve pencils from WHSmith. Nothing fancy. But when I sat at the kitchen table and began to colour, something softened. The noise in my mind quietened. For the first time in years, I felt calm.

That tiny moment – just me, my pencils, and a bit of peace – changed everything.

From Colouring… to Drawing… to Finding Myself Again

Colouring turned into drawing.
Drawing became creating.
Creating rebuilt my confidence.

Bit by bit, I found my way back to myself.
