March has been one of those months where so much has been happening in the studio – lots of drawing, lots of progress… and quite a few things I can’t share just yet!

But there are a few lovely moments I can show you, including this month’s Art Club piece, what we’ve been working on inside Ignite, and a little peek into what’s coming next.

Here’s what you can expect from this month’s chronicles:

A Beautiful Deer in Art Club

In Art Club this month, we completed a gorgeous deer drawing.

It was created on brown Pastelmat, which added such a lovely warmth to the piece. Letting some of that surface show through the fur gave a softness and richness that really brought it to life – a simple reminder that sometimes less really is more.

Ignite In Focus: Horses Week

Inside Ignite, we also had one of our In Focus weeks, where we spent time focusing on horses.

We drew every day, exploring shine, texture, and structure, and even worked towards a full horse study. It’s always such a powerful way to build confidence – giving yourself the space to focus on one subject and really understand it.

A New Tutorial: The Raven

I’ve also started working on a new tutorial – a raven with a woodcut-style background.

This one has been a really interesting challenge. Birds can feel quite structured and detailed, especially with feather patterns, so it’s been about finding a balance between accuracy and simplicity.

It’s a lovely reminder that you don’t have to copy every detail perfectly – you can interpret what you see in a way that works for you.

A Little Studio Reality…

Not everything always goes to plan!

This month included losing two hours of video footage (and having to recover it), along with a few other little technical hiccups along the way. But that’s all part of the process – creative life isn’t always neat and tidy, and that’s completely okay.

If there’s one thing to take from this month, it’s this:The more you draw, the more things start to click. Gently, gradually, and in a way that builds confidence over time.

And that’s exactly what this journey is all about.
