For this Fox Draw Along, we’ll be working on Clairefontaine Pastelmat, a unique surface loved by colored pencil artists. Unlike traditional paper, Pastelmat has a soft, velvety texture that holds multiple layers of pencil, allowing for rich depth, smooth blending, and even light-over-dark techniques—something rare in the colored pencil world! It’s forgiving and versatile, meaning mistakes can be easily layered over, making it ideal for detailed fur textures. If you’re new to Pastelmat, don’t worry— it may feel different at first, but once you get used to it, you’ll love the results!
