What started with one gorgeous rescue dog and an idea to raise some money for a local charity turned into something I don’t think any of us could have imagined.
In September, thousands of you joined me to draw Trixy and support The Yorkshire Rescue.
Together, we learned lots, filled social media with gorgeous Trixys and, most importantly, raised over £20,000 for The Yorkshire Rescue!
I honestly can’t thank you enough!

When I first planned the Trixy Draw-Along, I hoped we’d raise some money, learn lots and have a lovely week drawing together.
I definitely wasn’t prepared for just how many of you would get involved!
We had experienced artists, complete beginners and people picking their pencils back up after years away from drawing.
And that’s what I loved most.
Thousands of us made a little bit of time to be creative together – while helping a wonderful charity continue supporting animals who really need them.
If you joined me, thank you for being part of it.
The little dog who started it all 🐾
Trixy was one of nine tiny puppies rescued when they were just 11 days old. She was hand-reared before eventually finding her forever home with Abi, one of The Yorkshire Rescue’s trustees.
When I met her, I knew she’d make the most gorgeous drawing.
Her black coat also gave us the perfect opportunity to discover that black fur isn’t actually just black!
We found blues, browns, greys and all sorts of colours hiding in there, while learning about values, layering, pencil pressure, fur direction, eyes, noses and different fur textures.
And they’re all skills you can take into whatever you decide to draw next.

One of the loveliest parts of the whole experience has been seeing your drawings and works in progress.
Different pencils, different papers, different experience levels – and every Trixy completely unique to the person drawing her.
And if yours isn’t finished yet, please don’t worry!
There was never any pressure to keep up. Your workshop is yours to keep, so you can come back to Trixy whenever you’re ready.
And word spread even further!
It was so lovely to see our Trixy Draw-Along featured in the Harrogate Advertiser, sharing what our amazing creative community achieved together and helping to shine a little more light on the brilliant work of The Yorkshire Rescue.
I’m incredibly proud of what we managed to do together – all from picking up our pencils and drawing one very special little dog!
